Nairobi, 29th January 2018. Mike Mutungi, the CEO at I Choose Life (ICL) paid a courtesy call to the vice chancellor of the University of Nairobi Prof. Mbithi at his office at the University towers in the run up to the Nairobi Innovation Week 2018. ICL has been a valuable partner to the university with partnerships that have spanned the last few years since their respective mandates involve the younger generation.

Mr. Murunga informed the vice chancellor that ICL will be holding the 2nd Quadra Helix Summit on Thursday 8th March 2018 during the innovation week. He further went on to inform the VC that some of the high profile chief guests expected at the plenary sessions include at least one cabinet secretary, Mrs. Sicily Kariuki, the CS health. The sub-themes are;

  • Clean & Renewable energy for better health and education outcomes
  • Improving learning outcomes through EduTech
  • Improving youth SHR through wholistic program design
  • Everyone counted and accounted for through SDGs

I Choose Life has partnered with the government of Kenya through the ministries of Health, Education, Agriculture, Youth Affairs and Vision 2030 among others. ICL partners with other institutions on the basis of their 4 pillars which are Health, Education, Economic empowerment, Leadership and Governance. In addition to partnering with NIW2018, ICL will be sponsoring the event to a tune of Ksh. 1,000,000. Prof. Mbithi and Mike Murunga signed an agreement to that effect.

Dr. Omwansa, the chairperson of the Nairobi Innovation Week planning committee added on the emphasis of such partnerships with private sector in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
